Home of the Key West Beachfront Studio

Our trip to Key West (escaping Wisconsin’s Arctic Blast) was put together kind of last-minute and we felt so fortunate to have found lodging for nine days at Southernmoststudio. Suffice it to say that this is one of THE best places to stay on the island. Full-view, quiet morning sunrises, joined by a few other early-riser folks, were a highlight. The studio had absolutely EVERYTHING we needed and more. Comfy bed, spacious room and of course, the beach outside your door. As Key West “virgins,” we fell under its spell and are already planning our next trip there. It was awesome to have the bikes – while my man-friend went fishing, my daughter and I went tootin’ around town, stopping for fresh coconut milk or Cuban coffee or exploring little neighborhoods off of Duval. The warm weather was intoxicating to us all, and our winter-weary white skin was so happy in the sun. When we got home to the polar vortex, we bragged about not having to wear socks, pants or jackets the entire time. Holly was most gracious and accommodating, and we are grateful to her for sharing her little sliver of paradise. Kim from coldest WI!

Our January stay

We really enjoyed staying at Southernmost Studio. It was quiet, with about a beautiful view of the ocean. Patio was great. The unit was clean and well equipped. We stayed 9 days and wished we had stayed longer. We hope to come back.

“The Best of Key West! ”

My Husband and I had an amazing honeymoon experience in Key West. We couldn’t have gotten a better place to stay! Its literally THE BEST spot in all of Key West. Quiet, private, clean, and cozy. You have all you need for your stay. Breathtaking views of the beach and ocean out every window! Just lay in the bed, listen and watch the waves! Enjoy your cup of coffee and enjoy the view from the cute little kitchenette. Theres a nice TV but we chose to enjoy only the beauty and entertainment of the Tropical nature. The beach is so private and the BEST in all of Key West. The pool next is door is really nice too.. enjoy both! We really enjoyed the bicycles too! How convenient to just hop on the bike and ride all over Old Town Key West, down Duvall Street and to Mallory Square without having to fight or pay for parking. Sunsets at Mallory Square are a must to attend! EVERY NIGHT! Holly is extremely nice, and very helpful with any questions you may have! She and her studio are one of kind! When we return to celebrate an anniversary, we will definitely be contacting Holly. 🙂

My partner and I recently spent 4 nights at the southernmost studio in Key West. It was our first time visiting Key West and we could not have picked a more perfect place to stay. All of our friends said we should stay at one of the Gay Guest Houses, but they were not located on the water. The southern most studio was exactly what we wanted. We had an ocean view with ocean breezes, a sandy beach, and the soothing sound of the ocean waves singing us to sleep at night. We took advantage of the bike rentals and discovered that we were just minutes from any place we wanted to go. We were within walking distance to Duvall street where we were able to find restaurants and shopping. The studio itself was immaculate when we arrived. We took advantage of the fully furnished kitchen and even grilled on the outdoor grill one night for dinner. We drove and enjoyed having our own parking spot right next to the studio. We had all the conveniences of home. We had cable TV and WiFi. I was able to schedule a kayaking tour and a jet ski tour by host in advance right on site. Our privacy was respected and the rent was extremely reasonable. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Sam S. from NOLA

The pictures don’t do this place justice!!!

My (now fiance) and I stayed here for the most special weekend of our lives thus far. I let the owner know that I was proposing that weekend and she made every effort to ensure the perfect stay. Flowers, balloons, champagne… Your back porch steps out literally on to the sand of the southernmost beach. We didn’t take advantage of the watersports that were readily available RIGHT in the back yard, but we did get chairs available from the Waldorf Astoria resort that pays multiples more money to enjoy the same beach. The views are breathtaking… As for the nightlife, you are a very short walk from Duval and probably the most important luxury was a local convenience store that sells the island’s best Cuban coffee, coconuts you can drink from with a straw and anything else you forgot.

The house was clean, owner answered all questions, and not only would I recommend this place to a relative or friend, we will definitely stay here again.

I cannot give this place a good enough review – it was perfect from start to finish.

Wonderful Place!!

We stayed at this wonderful studio for 7 nights, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The view was amazing, the beach was awesome. The neighborhood was gorgeous, loads of lovely restaurants and shops within walking distance. I would definitely recommend renting bicycles during your stay..it’s the easiest way to get around the island. Barefoot Billys right across the sandy lane was ideal for planning excursions and trips, and great value as well. Holly and Javier were such lovely people and made us feel so welcome! The only drawback was that we loved it so much, we didn’t want to leave!!! We will definitely stay here again during our next trip to Key West!

Impressed Californians!

Our first time in Key West and we wanted a beachfront place with a swimming pool option. We found THE best option in Key West. When staying here you have a decision to make– beach, pool————-pool, beach!! We did both all day long. Pool staff very helpful, friendly and experienced when working with one of Holly and Javier’s guest. Just let them know ( all staff- servers, bartenders, barista and Billy’s boys) that you are staying at Holly&Javis and they light up with a big smile! Partly because Holly&Javi are known and liked among the locals and partly because they realize you are not neccesarily a 5 star guest with a 5 star attitude. nevertheless, you get access to 5 star amenities. Starbucks less than 100 feet away, breakfast/brunch/lunch at the Strip- includes shaded area, billiards, chess/checkers play while the Atlantic laps at your feet. EZ walk to Duval and the Southernmost landmark. Ana’s Cuban grocery (1 block up& one block over have picnic table seating out front to enjoy your Cuban sandwich and drink. California prohibits open container so we were surprised and amused yet enjoyed a few store bought brews on Ana’s covered stoop as we sat out a brief rain. Local Cubanos love their cigars and baseball and will talk on and on if you engage. If you ever get to Key West- look up Holly&Javi and the Casa Marina for the best beachfront place on the island! Gracias!!

A little different, a LOT of Fun!

Just back from a great Thanksgiving holiday at the “Crow’s Nest”. First – thanks to Holly for having us in your home and making the trip a perfect experience. If you don’t read any more of this review, just know that the accomodations were extremely comfortable, the location perfect and everyone we met was wonderful! Just enough personal attention to make us feel welcome and to know someone was there if needed. And the the homemade treats Holly brought down to the beach for us to sample were delicious (a Sunday tradition I understand). All of the recommendations that we took advantage of were a lot of fun and a week on the bikes was just a great way to see the island (so glad we didn’t rent a car!) and the beaches and the fantastic restaurants and the touristy attractions and the bars. All within a short walk or bike ride. The convenience of the location is perfect – just a couple of blocks from the quiet end of Duval, so all the amenities were easily accessible and the quiet escape awaited when we were ready. The coziness of the Crow’s Nest was a great vantage point to watch the beach crowd when we weren’t a part of it. The breezes through the open window along with the sound of the waves was a perfect way to fall to asleep and wake. Enjoyed the facilites next door and the staff there treated us as if we Resort guests. Thanks again to Holly for helping make our 30th anniversary trip so special.
P.S. recommendations for those interested . . .
Best dinner – Square One
Best breakfast – Southermost Cafe
Best bar – Pete’s (dueling Pianos) or Wille-T’s
Best adventure – Jetski tour from The Reach
Best touristy thing – Butterfly Conservatory
Best beach – there is no such thing as a bad beach 🙂
